Boarding house introduction

Student Support Division also has a "Rooming House Introduction Booklet" available, so if you would like one, please come to the office to pick one up.
Before signing a lease, make sure to thoroughly consider the financial aspects and inspect the property.

Rental agreement

Housing contracts are contracts under civil law that are decided through negotiation between the tenant (student) and the lessor (landlord). The university cannot be involved in these contracts, so please make sure to read the contract carefully. Be careful, as an ambiguous contract can cause trouble later on.

Resident registration

When deciding or changing your address, you must inform your family and register as a resident at the local municipal office (bring your moving-out certificate and personal seal). You must also submit a change of address form to Academic Affairs Division.

Fire prevention (fire insurance)

Fires are very scary. They can have a huge impact on others, and you may be liable for compensation. Please be careful with fire, including heating appliances and putting out cigarettes after use, as these can cause fires.
We also recommend that you take out fire insurance according to the amount of items you own as a means of self-protection in case you become involved in a disaster.

Part-time work is a way to learn about society and to provide some financial support. Assuming that you do it in your spare time, try to avoid unnecessary part-time work as much as possible and make it a meaningful part-time job within your life plan.
Recently, part-time job advertisements are being sent in various ways, such as through job magazines, direct mail, and posters on the street. However, some of these jobs involve dangerous labor in exchange for high wages, are not suitable for students, and have unfavorable working conditions, leading to cases of non-payment of wages. In particular, there have been many problems with registered private tutoring jobs. Do not easily respond to solicitations from companies on the street.
In addition, there have been many cases of scams disguised as part-time job recruitment (where you are asked to pay a registration fee but are not actually allowed to work, etc.), so please use university referrals whenever possible. If an accident occurs during employment, or if you are treated unfairly, such as having different working conditions such as wages, working hours, or job type, please contact Student Support Division immediately.

【Notes】

1. If you are unable to work due to illness or other reasons, please contact your employer immediately.
   Working without permission not only causes great inconvenience to employers, but it could also cause the university to lose employment opportunities.
2. For long-term employment, you will need to sign an employment contract with your employer.

International students looking for part-time work, please pay attention to this!

Please read the following points carefully before applying.

1. When applying, be sure to present your "Permission to Engage in Activities Other Than Those Permitted Under the Status of Residence Permitted."
2. If you do not provide this information, we will not be able to provide you with an introduction.

3. Please read the employment conditions (working hours, hourly wage, etc.) in the job posting carefully.

4. People who are currently working part-time cannot provide introductions.

What jobs are not offered at the university?

There are restrictions on the types of part-time work, and the following types of work are not offered due to considerations of physical safety, the impact on studies, and liability issues.

1. Work requiring a driver's license (motorcycle, car, etc.)
2. Dangerous work (construction sites, operating machinery, working at heights, working in hot or cold rooms, working in environments that are harmful to health due to dust, toxic gases, noise, etc., handling dangerous chemicals, working on roads with heavy traffic, human experiments, security guards, etc.)
3. Live-in position or work that requires late night to early morning hours
4. Mainly dealing with money
5. Election support activities
6. Sales and recruiting related work
7. Customer service work in places where alcohol is primarily consumed (bars, izakayas, beer gardens, etc.) and on-site work based on the Entertainment and Amusement Business Act
8. Work that is expected to involve human life (medical-related: office work is OK, swimming instructor, training instructor, pool lifeguard, babysitter, home helper, etc.)
9. Working at gambling venues such as horse racing and bicycle racing tracks
10. Tasks that involve personal privacy, such as transcribing resident registrations
11. Work that will be a workplace for part-time students only
12. Remote recruitment
13. Job offers that are clearly intermediary recruitment
14. Distributing flyers or putting up posters in unauthorized locations or with questionable content, or other work that is educationally undesirable or that the university deems inappropriate for student part-time work.

We will check the above points before accepting your job application, but if any of the above applies to you, please be sure to notify Student Support Division.

Check points to avoid problems

When starting work, you should have a thorough discussion with the employer and then sign a contract. In particular, for long-term part-time work, be sure to sign an employment contract. In addition, be sure to check the following points when starting work.

1. Job details, place of work and meeting place
2. Starting and finishing times, break times, holidays, vacations, and other conditions
3. Wages (amount, payment date, payment method) In the case of an hourly wage contract, wages for breaks are usually not paid.
4. Clothes, items to bring, etc.

When you're in trouble...

Part-time students are also employees subject to the Labor Standards Act. If you have any trouble, such as non-payment of wages or differences in working conditions, please contact Student Support Division immediately. In principle, the employer is responsible for the expenses of accidents that occur during work (occupational) or on the way to work. Depending on the nature of the accident, you may be covered by Workers' Accident Compensation Insurance, so please check with your employer. Also, if you have any trouble, please consult the Labor Standards Inspection Office (Osaka Labor Bureau website). (Please check separately for Labor Standards Inspection Offices in other prefectures.)
