President's message
—Training industrial professionals based on the founding principles—
President Masako Futamura
The history of Osaka Sangyo University began in 1928 when its founder, Genzaburo Sejima, established the Osaka Railway School with the founding principle of "Be a great ordinary person." Based on this founding principle, the university's educational philosophy is to cultivate individuals who can develop rich human qualities and contribute to the development of society. To date, it has produced approximately 100,000 graduates, training industrial professionals who possess the ability to make broad contributions to society. Currently, it has developed into a comprehensive university with seven faculties in science, humanities, and sports.
Our university's mission is to produce individuals who possess applied skills, practical abilities, and strong character and social skills, ready to contribute to society. Through a systematic curriculum that encompasses a broad range of general and specialized knowledge, students deepen their essential knowledge as members of society, cultivate problem-finding and problem-solving skills, enhance their motivation and attitude towards learning, and develop the ability to express their own opinions. Beyond classes, we have introduced "Project-Based Education," where students take the lead in tackling various themes. Project-Based Education is a distinctive program that allows students to actively participate, build relationships, and develop social skills and problem-solving abilities through real-world experience.
We aim to provide high-quality education and research based on practical learning, and to give back the results to society. Through seminars and other activities, students work on activities that contribute to the development of the local community, not only in Daito City where the university campus is located, but also in collaboration with local governments in a wider area. We also work with companies on various activities such as product development. Furthermore, we conduct joint research with companies, public organizations, and researchers. Through the promotion of industry-government-academia collaboration and regional cooperation, we fulfill our role as a center for knowledge creation and contribute to society.
Our university aims to contribute to societal changes and demands, striving to be a high-quality educational and research institution based on our founding principles. By collaborating with local communities and businesses, and by sending valuable human resources into society, we hope to contribute to society. In order to fulfill the mission of our university, all faculty and staff will work together as one to consider what we should do "for our students," "for the community," and "for society," and we intend to move forward to become a university that is trusted and chosen by society more than ever before.
