Qualification requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in a regular undergraduate course at our university (at the time of selection and study abroad) and meet one of the following conditions.
(1)The cumulative GPA of this university is 2.25 or higher.
GPA = (No. of S credits x 4 + No. of A credits x 3 + No. of B credits x 2 + No. of C credits x 1) / Total number of credits for SABCD*
(2) TOEIC (IP is also acceptable) 430 points or higher, TOEFL-ITP 430 points or higher, or IELTS 4.0 or higher.

*However, this is limited to scores taken within the past two years from the application deadline.
* Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School, international students, research students, and non-degree students are not eligible.

Scholarships etc.

1. Tuition Fees: Tuition fees are not required at the host institution, but tuition fees at this university must be paid.
2. Scholarship: A scholarship of 150,000 yen/semester will be provided. *300,000 yen/half year will be paid if you have a score of 680 or above on TOEIC (IP is also acceptable), 500 or above on TOEFL-ITP, 5.5 or above on IELTS, or pass Level 1 of the Practical English Proficiency Test (Eiken).
3. Support funds will be provided by Osaka Sangyo University Society and Supporters Association (conditions apply)
4. Self-pay: Travel expenses, overseas travel insurance, etc. *Everything except the destination tuition fee is self-pay.

*If you do not graduate from our university after completing your study abroad, you may be asked to return your scholarship, tuition fees, etc.

School record

Students remain enrolled at our university during their study abroad period, and the period of study abroad is included in their enrollment period.
*If you wish to take a leave of absence and study abroad at a partner school, there are no scholarships available, but it is possible to discuss this in advance.

Credit recognition

Credits earned while studying abroad can be converted into credits at our university (up to 48 credits) with the approval of the faculty council, but they are rarely converted into credits other than English-related subjects.

Applicants will be comprehensively reviewed and selected based on their English test scores such as TOEIC, GPA, Japanese essays, etc.

*The study abroad destination will be determined based on the applicant's wishes, field of expertise, acceptance criteria, etc.
*Even if you are selected within the university, we may not be able to send you or may have to change your destination due to the host's circumstances (homestay, university dormitory availability, etc.), security situation, etc.

アメリカ6ヶ月留学を終えて学んだ事や経験した事が3つあります。1つ目は、日本と他国の文化の違いです。例えば日本では家の中では靴を脱いだ生活ですが他国では靴を履いたまま生活する人もいれば、脱いで生活する人もいました。２つ目は、イベントと旅行です。学校主催の留学生用のイベントがあり、それに参加しました。そのイベントでは、Seattle観光やハイキングに行き自然に触れたりしました。そして私が1番印象に残ったのが車で1時間ほどでカナダに行けた事です。３つ目は、授業です。授業では簡単と思える時もありましたが、ほとんどの授業が難しくわからないことが沢山ありました。その時、先生に質問し理解するまで教えて貰い、難しかった課題も最後までやり遂げました。この3つの事から英語を学ぶだけではなく、他国の人との交流やイベント、旅行などを参加して沢山経験し充実した6ヶ月留学でした。

私は6ヶ月間米国のワッコム・コミュニティ・カレッジに留学しました。
私が滞在したワシントン州ベリンハムは自然豊かな小さな町で、海と山もある土地、人柄もよく比較的治安もいい、私の生まれ育った南大阪に似た土地でした。
そんな環境の中で多くのものを得ることができました。
英語学習においてワッコム・コミュニティ・カレッジはとても優れています。
一般的に留学生が入学する語学学校は英語学習のために作られたものが多く、言い換えれば英語をまだ話せない生徒が来る場所とされています。
しかし、ワッコム・コミュニティ・カレッジに関しては英語を学びに来ている生徒は私の体感で全校生徒の一割程度、多くのネイティブを含む学生が大学への編入のために通う学校でした。私の初めの英語力は非常に乏しく、その環境の中で友達を作るのにも大変苦労しました。しかし、諦めることなく一日６時間の授業、毎日３時間以上の自習を継続したことにより、確かな英語力の向上を実感するとともにネイティブレベルの学生とも会話が可能になりました。それからは、世界中の国の文化や考え方を学び、素晴らしい仲間とともに英語力、人間力ともに大きく成長することができました。
言語学習における悔しさ、喜びを知ることで自分の能力、現在地、目標を２０歳の節目で一度再確認することができました。

私は、昨年9月から今年の3月までの半年間、米国留学を経験しました。この半年間で私は、ネイティブスピーカーとのコミュニケーションや、米国の授業システム、寮生活をする上での他国生徒との価値観や文化の違いを学ぶことができました。
その中で得たものはたくさんありました。例えば、英語学習の観点において言えば、ネイティブスピーカーが日常から、当たり前に英語で会話をしているので、よく使う表現等を自分のものにして、コミュニケーションを図ることができました。また、私は、インドネシア人とアメリカ人の学生と半年間、寮生活をしました。その中で特に違いを感じたのが、宗教の違いです。ルームメイトはそれぞれ、イスラム教とキリスト教に所属していました。その中で、食べられる料理が限られていたり、お祈りをしなければいけない時間があったりと、日本では触れることが難しい宗教の違いを知り、学ぶことができました。
この半年間では、英語学習はもちろん、外国人と過ごす経験ができました。この先の人生において、とても貴重な経験をすることができました。
この先の英語における習慣等に活かしていきたいと思います
